The Modern Home “Sky Cottage”, designed and owned by Archimania’s Barry Alan Yoakum, accepts a forgotten site and maximizes its positive characteristics to serve as a force of contemporary architecture. With take advantage of its site, the view, the neighborhood scale, and privacy concerns for all. This house located in Memphis, Tennessee is decidedly modern home design as it responds to both the neighborhood and its primary asset, an unobstructed view of the Mississippi River. This Modern Contemporary home designed by Johannsen Architects. The challenge for this project is to create a contemporary family home design which is relatively low and strict maintenance of economic, irregular site. The solution is simple design that expands the long, contracts, and curve according to the interior design and built form that responds to the changing shape of the site. With a protected central courtyard, shaded terrace and a sunny swimming pool loggia, outer space is open to various parts of the site and park. Passive heating and cooling and natural ventilation to help reduce the use of A / C, and solar pool heaters and 24,000 L rain water tanks have been integrated into the house this large family.
