Roger Hirsch Architect design at Fire Island House is the program for this summer house in an open plan which naturally integrated the home interior design at living and dining area with the exterior deck and pool. Roger Hirsch this modestly sized two-story summer house of approximately 1,600 square feet, sits on a 60′ by 160′ lot in Fire Island House Pines, New York, off the south shore of Long Island. Fire Island at Summer House is a 30 mile long by 1 mile wide sand bar accessed by ferry, Roger Hirsch where streets and cars have been replaced by narrow wooden boardwalks and pull-carts.

The plan needed to accommodate the five summer house and frequent guests with four bedrooms and three bathrooms within the compact 1,600 square feet. The glass facade faces North, filling the glass home with an even wash of indirect light. A 12 foot long, narrow skylight is strategically placed to allow a stream of direct sun in from the back of the living room, in a path that moves along the living room floor, and angles up the living room wall. The angle changes with the seasons.
